Death of a Star On July 4th, 2003, we put Holly to sleep. For a week, she wouldn't eat anything, and anything she did eat she would vomit. So we finally took her in to the vet, and they tried hydrating her and giving her medicine for her kidneys. But the medicine didn't work, so we took her home and spent the day with her, hoping she would perk up. But by the end of the day she was in a lot of pain, and howling. It was the sound of a dying dog, so we decided to put her to sleep. We didn't want her to be in pain. So that's how we spent our 4th... We decided a long time ago that we would bury her at my Dad's Mom's farm, in the family dog cemetery along with the other dogs the family has had over the years. So we left Saturday (the next day) and drove to Pittsboro, North Carolina. Sunday morning we dug her grave and buried her. It was a sad day, but we were also able to spend it with relatives visiting. So that helped a little... We greatly appreciate and thank all those who were praying for us and Holly during this time...
Above is the last picture taken of Holly before she died. We just finished giving her a bath. From left to right: Crystal (my Sister), Mom, Me, and in the front is Holly... Below is one of my tribute cartoons to Holly...
