Wrong Mall, Maybe?41 viewsSam was doing caricatures at the mall in Hilo for about a month. I saw his booth earlier, but he wasn't around and I was short on time, so I thought I'd try again later the next day. Thankfully he was in...well, the second time I came by the table he was there. I thought his caricatures were unique, so I wanted him to draw me (I've decided to collect cartoon art from artists that I meet). I thought it came out very well! In return, I gave him this cartoon that I drew for him =3Jan 05, 2009

2008 Christmas Card71 viewsThis was a little late because I decided to buy and try using Anime Studio Pro (ASP) at the last minute since they had a fire sale, rather than use Adobe Livemotion. Plus the fact that I got sick yesterday afternoon, or it would have been done sooner. Anyway, despite the short comings of ASP, I think I'll stick with it. I was planing on using my voice for the narration, but time constraints and other problems prevented that. Hopefully the next card will have full sound. The animation is a tad big (3MB) because I added background music (yes, I bought it, so don't worry). In case you're wondering what vog is, it's smog spewed out of the Kilauea volcano and can make you very sick (and of course it's white). Here is a link to the Wikipedia definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vog
The mouse is supposed to represent me. Over the last year or so I've started developing my mouse drawings more than my other comics. I still don't have a name for it yet, tho. The feet you see under the vog is supposed to be our pets Autumn, Lady, and Holly. Well, I guess that's about it...oh, and the card will continually loop forever because ASP has literally no control over Flash scripting like Livemotion did.Dec 27, 2008

Megumi Hayashibara "cartoonized"49 viewsI used a photo of Megumi Hayashibara (my favorite Japanese singer, by the way) as a model for this drawing. I think it came out OK, with this being my first drawing of this nature ;)
I did it in 2B pencil, and it took me only about 15 minutes or less. I used the photo to the right as a reference...Oct 17, 2008

2008 Costco contest81 viewsI drew this for the cartoon contest that Costco held. When I first visited Costco in Kona, not providing plastic bags was a foreign concept to me. As I was walking around, a worker brought out a bunch of empty boxes on a cart just like in my drawing and announced that anyone could use the boxes if they wanted. There was a mad scramble as the worker was mugged for boxes. That scene still stays with me till this day. I've noticed during my last visit that they keep the boxes at the registers now =D
And you wouldn't believe how few pictures there are of Costco vests or merchandise. I had to settle for drawing plain boxes because I rarely go to Kona (my Dad does the shopping). I really wanted to draw the boxes that they use =\Sep 27, 2008

2008 Make My Day Hawaii contest41 viewsI entered this cartoon into the 2008 "Make My Day Hawaii" contest held in Ocean View. It was mostly for modeling, but I went ahead and entered the talent portion of the contest with the idea I probably wasn't going to win anyway. I was more interested in the recognition my work would receive. So it was no surprise when I didn't win. When Holly got older, it hurt for her to go up and down the stairs herself. She would sit at the stairs and bark until one of us, usually me, carried her where she wanted to go. When my Mom was doing the chores, this drove me nuts because she would go up and down the stairs all the time, and of course Holly wanted to follow. I sometimes dreamed of taping her mouth shut so she couldn't bark...but I never followed through with it, of course!Sep 27, 2008

81 viewsThis is an actual account given by Guy at one of his meetings. Always be careful what you say, even while campaigning, because it may come back to haunt you! His mother is quoting one of the many statements that Guy likes to use.Sep 27, 2008
